Etymology[edit]

From -sh (sh-) + -t (-të, ).

Suffix[edit]

-sht

  1. Forms adverbs from nouns, frequently corresponds to English -ly. Suffix used for:
    → feminine nouns ending with -i f (-er, -ery, -y, -ty, -ness) (in their indefinite form).
    marri f (foolery) + -shtmarrisht (foolishly)
    tërësi f (entirety) + -sht (-ly)tërësisht (entirely)
    → masculine nouns ending with -i m (the) (in their definite form).
    vazhdim m (continuation) + -i (the) + -sht (-ly)vazhdimisht (continually)
  2. Otherwise suffix -isht is used. To form adverbs from adjectives (see -isht for more).
