Cognate with Ukrainian ру́шити (rúšyty, to move, to wiggle), also руша́ти (rušáty), Belarusian ру́шыць (rúšycʹ, to move, to wiggle), Old Church Slavonic роушити (rušiti, to destroy), Bulgarian ру́ша (rúša, to destroy), Serbo-Croatian ру̏шити (to destroy), Slovene rúšiti (to shake, to demolish) (1sg. rȗšim), Czech rušiti (to disturb, to break the silence), Slovak rušiť (to move), Polish ruszyć (to move), Lower Sorbian rušowaś (to rage, to make noise).
