From English remote.[1]

Pronunciation[edit]

Noun[edit]

リモート ‎(romaji rimōto)

  1. a remote thing
  2. (computing) the remote system, server, computer, or device: not local

Usage notes[edit]

This term is generally used in compounds, such as リモートスイッチ ‎(remote switch) or リモートコントロール ‎(remote control), or in technical contexts, such as リモートホスト ("remote host") or ローカルリモート ("difference between the local and remote [hosts]"). When used attributively, リモート can be followed by the attributive particle (na) as a regular na-type adjective, but the more common pattern is to add the possessive particle (no) as is normal after nouns.
