Etymology

From Hindi क़ीमा (qīmā), Punjabi ਕ਼ੀਮਾ (qīmā), or Urdu قیمہ, all from Persian قیمه (qime), from Turkic, perhaps Ottoman Turkish قیمه (kıyma), whence Turkish kıyma. Doublet of gheimeh, an Iranian meat stew.
