Etymology
From, Old East Slavic апрѣль (aprělĭ), earlier априль (aprilĭ), from Byzantine Greek Απρίλιος (Aprílios), from Latin Aprīlis from (perhaps) Etruscan 𐌀𐌐𐌓𐌖 (apru) from Ancient Greek Ἀφροδίτη (Aphrodítē). The form with ѣ in the second syllable is explained by Sobolevsky as a loan from the Novgorodian written language.
