According to Eilers, an Iranian form *parādēs, which resembles the very common broken plural pattern فَعَالِيق (faʿālīq), was perhaps borrowed as a plural فَرَادِيس(farādīs) and the singular فِرْدَوْس (firdaws) created as a back-formation from it.[1]
