Usage notes
- The lizard is sometimes confused with ตะกวด (dtà-gùuat, “Bengal monitor; clouded monitor”).
- In the Thai translation of the King James Version (Leviticus 11:29, for example), the term is used to refer the Egyptian spiny-tailed lizard, which is known as "tortoise" in KJV, as "great lizard" in the English Standard Version, the New International Version, and the New Heart English Bible, as "large lizard" in the New Living Translation and the Holman Christian Standard Bible, and merely as "lizard" in the International Standard Version.
