Etymology

From Proto-Vietic *ɓak, from Proto-Mon-Khmer *[d]ɓak ~ *[d]ɓaak. Cognate with Muong bắc, Chut [Sách] kəbak⁷, Mang ɓak⁷, Eastern Bru ʔa.bak, Bahnar tơʼbăk, Khmer ពាក់ (pĕək).
