Etymology

Inherited from Proto-Vietic *ɓak, from Proto-Austroasiatic *ɓakʔ (to carry on back/slung). Cognate with Muong bắc, Chut [Sách] kəbak⁷, Mang ɓak⁷, Eastern Bru ʔa.bak, Bahnar tơʼbăk, Khmer ពាក់ (pĕək).
