Phono-semantic compound (形聲/形声, OC *ɢʷin) : phonetic 螾 (OC *lin, *linʔ) + semantic 呂 (“two gold plates”) – a unit of weight, original form of 鈞. The phonetic component is an ancient form of 螾 (see 旬), now written 勹. The component 呂 has corrupted into 二.
