Further Indo-European cognates include Sanskrit वधू (vadhū, bride, young wife), Avestan 𐬬𐬀𐬜𐬎(vaδu), Old Irish fedid (to go, bring), Avestan 𐬬𐬁𐬜𐬀𐬌𐬌𐬈𐬌𐬙𐬌(vāδaiieiti), possibly Albanian vjedh.
