- to return, to go back, to come back
- Synonym: رَجَعَ (rajaʕa)
- (copulative) to become
- (grammar, with عَلَى (ʕalā) or إلَى (ʔilā)) to refer to
- قَد يَعُودُ الضَّمِيرُ عَلَى الفاعِلِ أَوِ المَفْعُولِ بِه.
- qad yaʕūdu ḍ-ḍamīru ʕalā l-fāʕili ʔawi l-mafʕūli bih.
- The pronominal suffix might refer to the subject or the object.
- (with إلَى (ʔilā)) to go back to; to have its origins in
- هٰذَا التَقْلِيدُ الشَعْبِيُّ يَعُودُ إلَى العَصْرِ العُثْمانِيّ.
- hāḏā t-taqlīdu š-šaʕbiyyu yaʕūdu ʔilā l-ʕaṣri l-ʕuṯmāniyy.
- This popular tradition goes back to the Ottoman era.
