Inherited from Sauraseni Prakrit 𑀧𑁄𑀢𑁆𑀢𑀺𑀕𑀸 (pottigā)[1] (with Middle Indo-Aryan -𑀇𑀓𑀸- (-ikā-)[2]), from Sanskrit पौत्री (pautrī), vṛddhi derivative of पुत्री (putrī). Doublet of पौत्री (pautrī).
