Etymology

From ผู้ (pûu, “agent noun prefix”) +‎ เยาว์ (“young”); probably first used officially on 11 November 1923, when the first book of the Civil and Commercial Code was promulgated.

     Section 21 [When] a minor is to do any juristic act, [he] must obtain the consent of [his] statutory agent first. Any act which a minor has done without such consent is voidable, save where otherwise prescribed.
