Etymology
Wasei kango (和製漢語), orthographically borrowed from Japanese 鉛筆 (enpitsu, “pencil”), which was in turn a semantic readaptation of Chinese 鉛筆/铅笔 (qiānbǐ, “pen made from lead powder”).
