Etymology 1[edit]

First attested in the Seokbo sangjeol (釋譜詳節 / 석보상절), 1447, as  (Yale: twulh). Other Middle Korean examples include (twu), (twur) and 두을 (twuur).[1] Possibly cognate with Ainu ツ゜ (tu, two).[2]
