     Since publication, this book has acquired a large readership in Taiwan, Hong Kong and Chinese communities the world over.

Usage notes

Often used to indicate people travelling or living outside of China. This identity is rejected by many Hong Kong and Taiwan independence activists, who identify exclusively as 香港人 (Xiānggǎngrén) and 臺灣人／台湾人 (táiwānrén) respectively.
