  • The word is used prepositively while nila is used postpositively.
  • The third-person plural kanila is used instead of iyo or inyo when respectfully addressing individuals with whom the speaker maintains social distance, such as strangers, distant family members, or people of higher status. The second person pulural/polite inyo, however, conveys politeness and can be used with both familiar and unfamiliar individuals.
