Etymology

From (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Japanese 後見 (kōken, "a staff in noh and kabuki").

Note: In Japanese, a black-clad person is referred as 黒衣 (kuroko), and 黒衣 is one of the 後見 in noh and kabuki.
