Usage notes[edit]

The noun sense has practically ceased to exist in modern Finnish. The cases shown at the declension table are used as adverbs, and the word ohi itself has become a preposition and postposition (see corresponding sections below). It's also used as prefix or modifier in compound terms (see ohi-).

Usage notes[edit]

ohi cannot be used with a possessive suffix. Instead, the word ohitse must be used, as in one of the examples above.
