Etymology

From Ottoman Turkish طوتمق (tutmak, to hold, keep, catch, take, seize, capture, imprison, preserve, retain, occupy, fill, hire, esteem, account, advice, govern), from (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Proto-Turkic *tut- (to grasp).[1]
