English[edit]
Etymology[edit]
From Latin Lituania, which is a loanword from Proto-Slavic *Litъva, which is a loanword from Old Lithuanian Lietuva.
It has been speculated that the name comes from the rivulet Lietauka[1], although archeological evidence does not corroborate this hypothesis.
