Glyph origin[edit]
Phono-semantic compound (形聲, OC *lu): semantic 辵 (“walk”) + phonetic 斿 (OC *lu).
Etymology[edit]
From Sino-Tibetan. Cognate with Tibetan རྒྱུ་ (rgyu, “to go; to walk; to move; to wander”), Lepcha [script needed] (yŭ), Rawang yɨ (“to flow”) (Schuessler, 2007).
