From Proto-Albanian *spala, from Proto-Indo-European *pōl-, *spōl- (“to fall”). Cognate to Ancient Greek σφάλλω (sphállō, “to overthrow”)[1], Lithuanian pùlti (“to attack, rush”), German fallen (“to fall”).
