From Proto-Sino-Tibetan *r-maj ~ m-raj (tail; penis) (STEDT). Cognate with Mizo mei (tail), Tibetan རྨེད (rmed, tail; crupper of straddle), Chepang मेः (meʔ, tail), Burmese အမြီး (a.mri:, tail).

Pronunciation
