ȥ (lower case, upper case Ȥ)

1. Used in modern editions of Old High German and Middle High German to distinguish among ⟨ȥ⟩ /s/, ⟨z⟩ /t͡s/ and ⟨s⟩ /s̠/. No such distinction was made in the original manuscripts.
2. Sometimes used in linguistic works about Old Czech (for example by Jan Gebauer) to distinguish normal ⟨z⟩ (/z/) and ⟨ȥ⟩, which developed from previous /dz/ into /z/.
