Etymology 1
STEDT compares it to Proto-Sino-Tibetan *muːŋ ~ r/s-muːk (“foggy; dark; sullen; menacing; thunder”). Cognate with Tibetan རྨུ་བ (rmu ba, “fog”), Burmese မြူ (mru, “minute particle; haze; fog”).
