出⫽來 (verb-complement) (intransitive)

  1. to go from inside to outside (with the speaker being outside); to come out
    房間出來房间出来  ―  cóng fángjiān lǐ chūlái  ―  to come out of the room
  2. to appear; to emerge; to be revealed; to become available
    結果出來结果出来  ―  Jiéguǒ chūlái le.  ―  The result came out.
  3. (as a verbal complement)
    1. Indicates outward movement.
      出來出来  ―  zǒu chūlái  ―  to walk out
    2. Indicates a process of revealing, manifesting or making evident.

Usage notes[edit]

  • Potential forms include 來/出 (chūdelái, “can come out, can appear”) and 來/出 (chūbùlái, “have no way to come out, can not appear”). When it is used after a verb, however, it is 出來/出来 (de chūlái), 出來/出来 (bù chūlái).
  • When it is used after a verb, it is also possible to insert a noun (or a phrase playing the role of a noun) between the two characters, for example, 來/ (náchū qián lái, “to take out money”), 得出來/得出 (nádechū qián lái, “to be able to provide out money”).
