Etymology
[edit]Blend of 批鬥/批斗 (pīdòu, “denounce”) + 座 (zuò, “seat”)
Originated in Hong Kong, where the controversy arose on who could sit on priority seats. Netizens compared harsh hostile reactions during struggle sessions in the Cultural Revolution.
