Blend of 批鬥／批斗 (pīdòu, “denounce”) +‎ 座 (zuò, “seat”)

Originated in Hong Kong, where the controversy arose on who could sit on priority seats. Netizens compared harsh hostile reactions during struggle sessions in the Cultural Revolution.

     Even some patients who sit in priority seats can become targets of cyberbullying. In the end, some criticised that priority seats have become "struggle seats".

     Hong Kong is not the only place where priority seats have become "struggle seats". In South Korea, an elderly person kicked a man was sitting in a priority seat, and a 66-year-old was arrested for assaulting a 25-year-old woman who was sitting in a priority seat as well.
