Recorded as an ancient form of 龍 in the Kangxi dictionary in 1716 AD. Earlier dictionaries such as Longkan Shoujian (deprecated template usage) 《龍龕手鑑》 in 997 AD and Jiyun (deprecated template usage) 《集韻》 in 1037 AD recorded the glyph as 𥪖.
