孟子:「《春秋義戰敵國。」 [Classical Chinese, trad.]

From: Mencius, c. 4th century BCE
Mèngzǐ yuē: ““chūnqiū” wú yìzhàn. Bǐ shàn yú cǐ, zé yǒu zhī yǐ. Zhēng zhě shàng fá xià yě, díguó bù xiàng zhēng yě.” [Pinyin]
Mencius said: "In the Spring and Autumn there was no just war. There were instances of better wars than others. Correction is when the overlord/superior punishes the underlings/inferiors. Rivalling states do not correct each other."
