|
ǭ (lower case, upper case Ǭ)
- A special letter marking a more open pronunciation of ō (in words where it has developed from an earlier ā).
- This letter is used in reference and linguistic works. In general texts, it is usually simply spelled as ō.
- Found only in root-initial syllables.
- Unlike with other vowel letters, no short variant (without a macron) exists.
- The uppercase form would only be theoretically used in all-caps text, but in practice, is not really used.
ǭ (lower case, upper case Ǭ, Osage equivalent 𐓪̄͘)
- A letter of the Osage alphabet, written in the Latin script.
