Usage notes
[edit]附 is an alternative form of 付, which carries the meaning of enclosed/attached. Originally 附 was used for the intransitive verb つく, while 付 served for the transitive つける. Nowadays 付 is overwhelmingly used for both, with 附 having mostly fallen out of use entirely.
