I know only English, so the projects below generally relate only to English terms.

Match mismatched HTML comments[edit]

See User:Benwing2/mismatched-comments-2023-05-20-dump. I am purposefully removing archives from this list without fixing their comments (as archives should generally not be edited). I am skipping over Rhymes-space pages (leaving them listed), because of discussion about retiring the Rhymes namespace.

RFM is a large enough page that my devices often struggle to load it, so I have a backlog of terms I would like to list at RFM at some point in the future when it is hopefully smaller. Or maybe I'll just move / merge them myself in clear-cut cases.

Categorization of templates[edit]

I think the categorization of templates is currently quite poor.

  • After these changes have been made, the sections at Wiktionary:Templates should be updated to match.

Collections[edit]

There are some terms that are being discussed at RFDE, each of which is representative of a group of terms that could be nominated for the same reason as the original. Assuming that the original fails, I want to nominate the other members of each group.

Others[edit]

  • {{DC Comics}}: This template (created by Daniel Carrero in 2010) displays a collapsible box containing two links to appendixspace, one of which is now a redlink. It is only used on two pages; one can be replaced by the single blue link, and the other can be removed.
  • {{currentdate}} and {{CURRENTDATE}}: Unused and redundant to {{timestamp}}.

Lacking explanation[edit]

These terms were tagged but never listed with no explanation given for why in the tag or edit summary, and for which the tagger is active (last edit within a month or so). I have pinged the tagger to get their input. If I get no response within two weeks or so, I think it is reasonable to simply remove the tag.

For terms for which no explanation can be found and the tagger is inactive, I find it reasonable to remove their tags immediately.

Categorize shortenings[edit]

Some acronyms and initialisms do not use {{acronym of}} or {{initialism of}}, and are therefore not appropriately categorized. I've used one of my Python scripts to find all English senses for terms that consist only of two uppercase English letters, where the sense is not labelled as an initialism and does not use {{acronym of}} or {{initialism of}}.

Add audio pronunciations[edit]

Based on Category:Requests for audio pronunciation in English entries. I do not know when I might get around to recording these, so do not consider them reserved or anything.

Add syllable counts to existing rhymes[edit]

See User:ExcarnateSojourner/Rhymes lacking syllable counts. I am putting this on hold as I think it is possible to do much of this by bot by having the bot look for subcategories of cat:English words by number of syllables.

Review one-line talk pages[edit]

See User:ExcarnateSojourner/One-line talk pages. I will need to generate a new list before doing this again.

Potential future projects[edit]

  • Many English appendices do not have English in their title when they ought to.
  • In categorizing appendices, I have come across several that are just lists of existing mainspace entries, which might be better handled (and maybe already are!) using categories instead.
